Quirky Birds Dallas is an arts, crafts and sewing studio located in Dallas, TX owned and operated by Julia Dankberg. At Quirky Birds Dallas, children 5-13 are encouraged to explore, experiment, play and grow in their creativity through fiber and textile arts.
During sessions, children select their own projects and complete from start to finish with guidance and necessary assistance of experienced craft teachers. Zero experience for sewing is required. Those new to sewing will first work on their hand sewing skills. Older children and children who have previous experience sewing can work on machine sewing projects. Regardless of which sewing technique sewers select, they will learn how to read patterns, cut patterns, sew, embroider, embellish and finish their pieces! They will leave class proud of themselves, their work and having learned a new skill!
Please note that materials to complete smaller projects that can be completed in 1-2 sessions will be provided, but children are also encouraged to bring their own projects, materials, and patterns to class.
Quirky Birds originally began as an arts, crafts and sewing studio in Northern Sydney (Mosman), NSW. It was founded by Louise Moreau and she shared the term "Quirky Bird" with her sister, Isabelle Moreau who owns Lavender Leonardo art studio in London, UK.
While Julia was studying to get her Masters in Design at UNSW Art & Design, she taught with Louise in her Northern Beaches nest and eventually earned the esteemed title of "The Third Quirky Bird" after two years. Still to this day, she cherishes her time with Louise and the beautiful children she got to meet and teach during her time in Australia.
This leads us to today...
After working in tech start-ups and as a graphic designer for LA's largest non-profit arts organization, she's ready to get Quirky Birds Dallas in flight, as she is on a mission to bring the joy and delight that the studio brought to Northern Sydney to Dallas, TX.
